Violet Burnett

	Violet Burnett, 88, of Doe Run, Mo., formerly  of DuQuoin, passed away Monday, May 21, 2001 at 5;32 p.m. at Mineral Area Regional Center in Farmington, Mo.
	Mrs. Burnett was a clerk at a clothing store and a member of Spirit of Life Christian Church in DuQuoin.
	 She was born December 28, 1912 at Vergennes, Ill., the daughter of Edward and Martha (Conrad) Peckler.  She married Jake Burnett on November 18, 1931 at Hallidayboro and he preceded her in death on February 15, 1969.
	Surviving are one daughter, Joan Clark of Doe Run, Mo.; one brother, Ralph Peckler of Carbondale; two sisters, Olive Atherton of DuQuoin and Luthenia Nelson of St. Louis; three grandchildren, Earnie Williams, Sherry D. Rambin and Jeff Williams; 10 great grandchildren and nine great great grandchildren.
	She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, Jerry; one daughter, Jean Williams; one brother; three sisters; a granddaughter and grandson.
	Funeral services were Thursday, May 24 at 11 a.m. at Neal-McClure Memorial Chapel with Rev. Gerald Wright officiating.  Interment was in Elkville Cemetery.
	Friends called at Neal-McClure Funeral Home in DuQuoin on Thursday from 9 a.m. until time of services.
